Quarter of a Century

Today is a very big day for me- it marks my 25th birthday. Although it is scary to think that I am already a quarter of a century old, what makes this birthday special are the events that will occur in my life while I am 25. For one, I will officially be a doctor before my next birthday. Crazy, scary, and ridiculousness that I am both old enough to be a doctor and almost ready to graduate! Moreover, only a week after I graduate with my M.D. I will be getting married to my best friend, a fact which he so nicely reminded me of in his adorable birthday card to me:

AWWWWWWW....I accidentally cut off the sign off, but he signed it from him and our pooch!

I know that resolutions are typically reserved for new years, but seeing as this is such a big year in terms of life events, I have one major resolution that I'd like to see myself keep; I want to be healthier.

There are a lot of reasons I want to be healthier than I am. The main reason is simple- I am going to be a doctor! When people ask me for advice about their children and I recommend exercise and a healthy diet, I want to know that I am not being a complete hypocrite. And while I was once an active person, playing basketball and lacrosse most of my childhood and dancing as well, I have become a complete and utter coach potato. Things need to change.

My second reason follows: When I marry my best friend, I want to start our relationship in the best place it can possibly be, and for me that means being as healthy as possible. We feed off of eachother's energy. When he eats bad, I follow suit. When I decide to lounge around all day long instead of getting my butt up, he is right there next to me on the couch. I think that making a change for me will also make a positive change in his life, and we will therefore live longer, happier lives together.

Has a birthday ever meant big changes for you?
